The parking regulations in Štramberk have recently been changed (on 1 May 2012), so it is important to know where you can park when visiting the town. It is no longer possible to park on the square or in the surrounding streets – this is now reserved for people who purchase a special parking card. If you park illegally, you risk being clamped and having to pay a fine!
WHERE TO PARK AND HOW TO GET INTO THE TOWN CENTRE
You have several options:
1) Park on the square – two hotels (Hotel Šipka and Hotel Štramberk) have purchased special parking cards for the use of their guests. So if you are staying at either of these hotels, be sure to ask them for the card so that you can park right outside.
2) Use one of the town’s five car parks (see map)
Some of the car parks are closer to the centre (the car park near the school, and the overflow car park). They are also near the Šipka cave, one of Štramberk’s main tourist attractions.
3) If you use one of the town’s car parks, you might want to time your arrival to fit in with the Štramberk mini-train, which stops near the car parks (see the map again, or see the timetable of the Štramberk mini-train).
But don’t worry: whichever option you choose – whether you walk to the town centre or prefer to use the mini-train – the route will take you through some of the most picturesque streets in Štramberk :-)
